Intro: Every single day in my practice, I witness the human body communicate with a level of clarity that, even after almost 10 years in practice, leaves me in awe. The stories in this series, It Never Gets Old, highlight the small moments — the quiet confirmations — when the body reveals exactly what is stressing it and what it needs to heal. No identifying details are ever included, just the patterns, the insights, and the beautiful ways the body speaks through muscle testing. That feeling of awe… it just never gets old.

Case #2:

This client has been with me for a little over two months. They originally came in with chronic aches and pains (especially in the knees), extreme fatigue, and gastrointestinal issues. Now, about 10 weeks later, everything has started to improve — steadily and noticeably — thanks to time, consistency, and dedication.

During their very first Nutrition Response Testing (NRT) evaluation, we hit an interesting moment right at the start. The first step in any evaluation is simple: I press gently on the client’s extended arm to see whether the nervous system can maintain resistance. This client could not. That immediately tells me there’s a priority stressor the body wants handled before anything else.

So I tested for it.

Tobacco.

But the client had never smoked tobacco.

Their parents, however, smoked during the client’s childhood… at home, and even in the car with the windows rolled up. Yikes. Second-hand smoke is incredibly toxic, and unfortunately, I see this scenario often. Sometimes it shows up in younger adults; sometimes it shows up decades later in older adults who are stunned to learn a serious diagnosis (like Type 2 diabetes) is rooted in second-hand tobacco exposure, even if they never smoked themselves.

I often explain the chemicals and metals in tobacco need to be “escorted out” of the body with targeted supplementation. They don’t leave on their own.

In this client’s case, NRT revealed the liver was especially stressed — not only from tobacco, but from accumulated chemical and metal stressors that had left the body vulnerable to pathogens, including Borrelia/Lyme bacteria, hence some very achy knees.

So from day one, we began detoxifying the liver and clearing tobacco residues using targeted supplementation specific to this client’s testing results. We also made strategic dietary changes based on both labs and muscle testing. This client has been incredibly disciplined — cleaning up their diet, reducing toxic exposure at home and work, and staying consistent with their NRT program.

And the payoff is real: they’re feeling better, moving better, digesting better, and watching their whole health trajectory shift into a new, far more hopeful direction.

It never gets old.
